While its no drought breaker and scattered, it’s nice to see some activity on the afternoon radar! While most totals have been less than a quarter of an inch, the BQ5 ranch in Goliad county caught 1.58 inches! There is also a nice cell over SW Karnes county as of post time. Fingers crossed that there will be more surprises this week as high pressure in south Texas is not as strong as over the rest of our area and will allow for more storms to fire off over the next couple of days. By Friday, a trough will develop to our NW, creating better odds for scattered afternoon storms for south and south-central Texas from Friday-Monday.
Taking the models out to the end of the month, the GFS and Euro continue to be bullish for rain, predicting a trough to develop over Texas, pulling in moisture from the Pacific, where a tropical storm may form off the coast of Mexico again. Still pretty far out there, but something to keep our eyes on!
There is a 90% chance that a tropical something will form in the Atlantic over the next 7 days (92L), however, the latest spaghetti models having it eventually going “poof” eventually over the Atlantic.
