Thanks to an old frontal boundary over central Texas and high precipitable water values, we are seeing quite a few pm poppers form over south-central Texas this afternoon. This weakness will remain through Thursday, with continued chances for scattered storms through the period. There will be a break in the action on Friday, then rain chances ramp up again as a weak tropical wave moves through on Saturday, impacting the coast and coastal plains the most. While we move towards a drier trend early next week, models are forecasting another ramping up in activity by the end of the week. The latest 6-10 and 8-14 day CPC outlooks keep us in better than even odds for above normal precipitation.

Tropical storm Erin continues to churn in the Atlantic and will likely become a major hurricane by the end of this week. As mentioned yesterday, the models still think it will stay out over the Atlantic and not threaten the mainland USA.

If you luck out and get some rain this afternoon, please let us know where and how much!
