Here is the latest update from the NWS: “The mid level trough moves over the southern Plains on Friday and Saturday. Forcing by the trough, a strong upper level jet, and a possible cold front/dryline on a moist airmass in place will lead to showers and thunderstorms over much of our area. The best chances are Friday into Saturday morning.” While rain odds are not as promising for south Texas, all it would take is a slight southerly dip of the trough to deliver more rain to your area…we are still 48hrs away from this event, so keep your fingers crossed.
Tropical storm Melissa is still churning in the Caribbean and is expected to reach hurricane status by this weekend. As of today, she does not post any threats to Texas.
I had some success last night photographing Comet Lemmon, but as of last night, without the help of a friend who really knew where to find it and the aid of my iPhone, it would have been a real challenge to find it in the sky. It will be in the NW sky at least through the end of the month…good luck trying to photograph it!
