Over the last 24hrs, the odds for severe storms has increased with our approaching trough and cold front on Friday night-Saturday. As I have mentioned in past posts this week, the best chances for storms and rain will be along and north of a HWY 90 to I-10 East line, but the storm complex could easily build a bit more south as the trough approaches from the west, so don’t let your guard down south of San Antonio. Make sure you have your weather radio on or your apps set to alert you since most of the activity will be moving through our area from midnight through daybreak Friday night and early Saturday morning. The NWS just sent out a great update on this weather event and I have shared it below. The primary threat will be hail and high wind.

The latest depressing drought update is in today’s graphics along with the latest update on Melissa, which could drop some destructive rainfall over western Haiti and all of Jamaica.

An approaching cold front and trough will be the spark for our rain event on Friday night-Saturday.
