The NWS has a great summary of days to come: “Fire weather concerns continue Friday and Saturday. A widespread freeze in store Saturday night into Sunday morning with lows mainly in the 20s. Rain chances return to most areas late Tuesday into early Wednesday, with the higher rainfall amounts aimed at the coastal plains region.”
RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 8 PM CST SATURDAY FOR GUSTY NORTH WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY ACROSS ALL OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTH TEXAS.
Another “2fer” front is on the way, with the first one about to move through San Antonio and the second one forecast to move through early on Saturday morning. While both will give us dry, gusty winds, its the one on Saturday that is concerning the NWS and why they issued a Red Flag Warning. Wind chills will be in the 20’s and 30’s Saturday morning just in case you have any outdoor plans. With the very dry and chilly air in place, temperatures will quickly drop tomorrow night and we may see freeze warnings issued for counties that have not seen one already. Based on the latest model runs, we could see a freeze as far south as Laredo and Corpus on Sunday morning.
While we still have a chance for rain on Tuesday-Wednesday, the best odds have shifted to the coast and coastal plains. The good news is that the CPC continues to forecast better than 50-50 odds for above normal precipitation through the end of the month.
