First I want to report the bad news of two drownings in Bexar County that occurred during one of the heavy downpours that hit on Sunday in San Antonio. I have graphics from the NWS showing the location of the flood where the drownings happened. The victims were apparently homeless, based on an article I found online.

If we can’t get help from the Atlantic, then let’s try the eastern Pacific! Tropical storm Lorena has formed SW of Puerto Vallarta in the eastern Pacific and if everything goes as forecast, the remnants will bring rain to the desert SW, my location in SW Colorado and Texas by late this week and early next week!

Here’s what the NWS is saying about Lorena: “The latest GFS model continues to show the newly formed Tropical Storm Lorena making a turn northeast Friday into the weekend being ingested into the main flow and moving over Texas. Other models still bring high precipitable water values to the area during this time increasing confidence for rain chances this weekend with the highest chances over South Central Texas Sunday and Monday. It is still too early to talk about rainfall amounts, but the potential for heavy rainfall does appear to be present and will have to closely monitor trends the next few days.”

Hot and humid weather will continue through Friday, with highs in the upper 90’s to low 100’s. As of today, I’m not seeing a strong cold front impacting our weather in the next 7-10 days.
