Yet another warm end of February day out there with highs in the mid to upper 80’s for most locations. As I have been saying, more of the same through early next week as high pressure remains in control. By the middle part of the week and especially as we head into the weekend, a large trough over the west will start impacting our weather for potentially the next two weeks as high pressure finally breaks down and rain chances rise. We will start seeing rain in the forecast by Wednesday as a dying front in west Texas, along with SW flow off the Pacific, gives us our first chances for rain. The latest CPC outlooks keep us in better than even odds for above normal rainfall through the 14th of March.
Some of you have asked whether you should take plants out of your greenhouses yet. As of today, I do not see any arctic surprises on the horizon, but know that I have seen many surprises in March in the past, especially in the Hill Country!
