High pressure will continue to rule our part of the world through the weekend, but we have this to look forward to next week as described by the NWS: “A very gradual change will take place in the large scale pattern next week as persistent high pressure in the mid and upper levels over northern Mexico and the desert southwest is weakened as a broad trough of low pressure develops over the Intermountain West.”

Based on the latest CPC outlooks, this pattern change looks like the real deal. The big question as always, will be how much rain will fall and where. As of today, the best odds favor south-central Texas vs south Texas in the most recent model runs but we are still nearly a week away from this pattern change. The great news is that for the rest of March, we may not see high pressure take over, giving us additional chances for rain as we move through the month.

In the meantime, continued highs in the 80’s with zero rain odds through the weekend. Rain chances start entering the forecast on Tuesday and should gradually increase by the end of the week.
