Seems a little odd doing a drought-hurricane update, but actually they do relate to each other! The NHC just released an update on their hurricane forecast today and now they are predicting an even less active season than what they predicted in May. The Report. Why this relates is that without the help of tropical storms, our drought may expand over the next month until we can start getting some early season fronts in September. As I always mention, no one wants a major hurricane to strike our coast, but rainfall from tropical storms is badly needed to fill up our reservoirs and aquifers. Thankfully, even if we miss out on any tropical activity this season (still plenty of time for something to form), an above normal El Niño should bring us a very wet late fall and winter.

Meanwhile, more of the same…a slight chance for some sea breeze PM poppers for the coastal plains, but just hot and humid for the rest of the area for at least the next week to ten days.
