While there is still a chance for some scattered severe storms over the next 48hrs, the overall coverage and odds have gone down a bit since yesterday. Round one will come tonight as our weakening upper-level low moves through, then another chance on Sunday afternoon and evening as our next cold front moves down. As always, even if the storms are scattered, it’s a good idea to keep your NOAA weather radio and emergency apps turned on just in case on of these storms finds your location!

From the NWS: “Chances for thunderstorms have decreased for tonight. There is a 20%-50% chance for storms concentrated over the Rio Grande Plains. There is a Level 1 Risk for severe  thunderstorms with large hail and damaging wind gusts the mostly likely threat. Locally heavy rain is also possible and the strongest storms could produce up to 2”. Localized minor flooding is possible. There is a Level 1-2 Risk for severe thunderstorms late Sunday for most of the area with large hail and damaging wind gusts the mostly likely threats.”
