As has been the case so often this year, the models really blew yesterday’s forecast and we ended up with some surprisingly robust rainfall totals yesterday in the Hill Country and even south Texas. The cool front ended up moving into south Texas…much further south than any of the forecasts had predicted from this week. My rain gauge in NW San Antonio recorded 0.97 inches of rain and several locations in Kerr County had over 2.5 inches. The highest amounts I see from the past 24hrs were 3.15 inches in Marion and 3.07 inches NE of Freer. Unfortunately, as expected, there were many of you who did not get in on this scattered storm event.

The front will move NE today as a warm front, leaving us mainly dry. Meanwhile, a shortwave trough in north Texas will move slowly south during the day, with a line of scattered thunderstorms moving along with it. Scattered storms will eventually move into our northern counties tonight and southern counties on Monday. As of post time, this trough does not look like as much of a rainmaker as yesterday’s cool front was.

After Monday, we should settle into a hot and humid period with only a few sea breeze generated pm poppers. The tropics are getting more active, but none of the systems brewing will impact us in the next week.

If some rain fell on your backyard yesterday, let us know where and how much!
