A stormy afternoon and evening for our western counties…

This update is brought to you by Dietz Mclean Optical Company. www.dmoptical.com As a family-owned business, our independence, in house lab, great customer service and eyewear warranties, allows us to tailor your eyeglasses, lenses, and fittings: we want you to only expect the best after working with us. Heads up for our western counties this afternoon as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will likely be issued at whatever time I wrap up this post! Seriously, there is an 80% chance a watch will be issued for the possibility of large hail, high winds and even a tornado. All the latest info is below, along with the latest HRRR simulated radar loop.
For the rest of us, only a slight chance for scattered storms over the next 24 hours. Our next chance for rain comes this weekend as a cold front will kick up a few storms along and ahead of its passage. More on that tomorrow.
The latest ENSO weekly report is out and we are now looking at the chance for a strong El Niño developing by the end of summer…notice I’m not calling it a “Super El Niño” like most of the media is calling it! Graphics below.
Meanwhile, it’s snowing hard at 8000 feet in the SW mountains of CO in Pagosa Springs as I write this post!
