I’m not sure you’ll find “Leap Frog Effect” in a NWS weather dictionary, but that’s what I’m calling tomorrow’s forecast! Our front will be slowly moving south and should arrive during the late afternoon in south-central Texas and the evening in south Texas. There will be a line of storms that form along the front as it moves through, but as of post time, the models think the storms will lose strength as they make it into the Hill Country, then regain their strength again around San Antonio as they then move into the coastal plains and south Texas. Some of these storms could reach severe levels, with high winds the biggest threat.
Meanwhile, it’s another hot one out there, with heat indexes over 100 degrees for many locations in south-central Texas and most locations in south Texas. Wednesday will be another hot one before the front arrives later in the afternoon. The “less hot front” should drop our lows into the 60’s (even some 50’s in the Hill Country) on Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 80’s for northern counties and low 90’s for southern counties.
