Thanks to one of the few times Starlink has had a long outage, I’m a bit late in my post today. Based on what I’m reading and seeing in the latest models, being a couple of hours late has certainly had no impact on what will be happening over the next couple of days. The inverted trough moving across the Gulf will likely not become a depression (only a 10% chance) and most of any rain will be confined to the coast and coastal plains, but even those areas will likely see under an inch of rain. The big rains will stay out in the Gulf, the upper coast and in Louisiana.
The NWS thinks we could see another one of these inverted troughs cross the Gulf in about a week, so we will watch out for that. The good news is that our steering flow continues to run east-west, so if a real depression or storm eventually forms in the Gulf, it will move straight into Texas.
I just ran across a book on weather proverbs that I purchased in 1992…for fun, I will be sharing some of these in future posts. It is called “Weather Proverbs” and was written by George D. Frier.
“When your joints all start to ache, rainy weather is at stake”
