Yes, we still have our inverted trough moving across the Gulf today with a 10% chance of becoming a depression. The models continue to keep most of the heavier rain of 1-3 inches along the upper Texas coast, with 1/2 to 1 inch totals mainly from Brownsville to Corpus. A few showers and thunderstorms may make it inland to the coastal plains today and tomorrow, and even fewer may move as far inland as the southern counties of south-central Texas. Once this trough moves through, look for hot and humid temperatures through most of next week. There is another chance that a similar trough could develop by next Thursday, with very similar results.

Looking at the latest drought update from yesterday, we have seen dramatic improvement in drought conditions over the past three months…now if we could get a tropical depression to slowly move into the Gulf instead of these wimpy inverted troughs, perhaps we could finally see an end to the exceptional and extreme conditions that are still impacting a few of our south-central Texas counties.
