I was surprised to see how widespread freezing temps were this morning! I noticed that the NWS was as well, since they issued a freeze warning for much of our area at 1:26am…not sure how many of you were up at that time and went running outside to bring in your plants! Here is a link to our lows across south-central Texas: IEM :: PNS from NWS EWX.
We should see lows only drop into the 40’s overnight, then zoom back up into the 70’s ahead of our next dry front that will push through in the afternoon. This front will do very little to lower our temps, with highs in the 70’s returning by Friday. Things get interesting on Sunday with the arrival of our next front. While the coldest air will stay to our NE, the high pressure will be shallow enough to allow warmer air to override the cool air, giving us a chance for another round of Seattle type rain most of next week. As of post time, all of the models except the NBM are forecasting some fairly decent rain totals of 1/4 of an inch to over 2 inches. I’m hoping this verifies and will certainly be watching it the rest of this week!
