It’s been a frustrating winter for not only Texas, but most of the SW, as high pressure has dominated, cutting off badly needed low pressures that deliver rain for us and snow for the Rockies. While I certainly don’t want to get too many hopes up, the mega high over the west may finally start breaking down next week. No, this won’t instantly bring an end to our ever-present drought, but it may at least bring back normal winter rainfall odds. In the short term, more of the same…almost zero rain chances and above normal temperatures through next Monday. We will see a seasonal front move through tomorrow night, dropping our lows back into the upper 30’s and 40’s through Friday.
As I posted this morning, San Antonio Sam did not see his shadow as a deck of clouds moved in the from the south, just in time to block the sun! While Sam is a work of fiction, his forecast may end up having some merit as the latest model runs are no predicting freezing temperatures for the next 10 days. Please don’t go out and plant your garden yet…we all know there have been lots of late February freezes in the past!
