I’ll be out this afternoon, so here’s my morning edition weather post! No big changes overnight…a tiny chance for some sea breeze poppers this afternoon, mainly along the coastal plains and our eastern counties. High pressure will continue to build over the Gulf states later this week, shutting off almost all chances for rain for at least a week.
Looking down the weather road, the GFS and Euro models are forecasting a potential cool front to make its way into south Texas around the 24th, dropping temps a bit and giving us a chance for rain. As we know, models can change their minds quickly, but something to keep tabs on. The low in the Atlantic now has a 70% chance of becoming a tropical something in the next 7 days. It’s still thousands of miles away, so no worries for now, but something else to keep an eye on!

7day rainfall forecast
Shower and thunderstorm activity is currently limited in association
with an area of low pressure located about 500 miles southwest of
the Cabo Verde Islands. Environmental conditions are forecast to
become more conducive for development during the next couple of
days, and a tropical depression will likely form during the latter
half of this week while the system moves westward to
west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.
