Keeping an eye on AL92

With high pressure in control and almost a zero chance for rain in the next 7-10 days, we’ll look into AL92 out in the Atlantic. Here’s what the NHC is saying: “An area of showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave is located about 950 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for development during the next couple of days, and a tropical depression will likely form while the system moves westward to west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 7 days...high...80 percent.”

Once this wave actually forms into a depression, the NHC will give us their tracking forecast. I am including the latest spaghetti models in the post below. While this storm will be tracking towards us, the latest model runs are forecasting this system to go “poof” before it makes it into the Gulf. However, until the NHC starts tracking it, it’s still too early to know what will happen. FYI: Cristobal in the northern Atlantic is moving NE and will not be a threat to the USA.
