A nice Thanksgiving with most areas reporting 60’s as of post time. The clouds decided to move in a bit more quickly than forecast, so much of you are having a cloudy and cool Turkey Day. While there will be a few patches of blue this afternoon, clouds and rain chances will be on the increase starting tomorrow, so if you are part of the group that likes to camp out in front of your favorite department store to insure you nab the greatest Black Friday deals, you might want to pack an umbrella. Showers and a few thunderstorms will be in the forecast through Saturday night as the subtropical jet ushers in some moisture from the Pacific. Unfortunately, there aren’t any decent disturbances moving along the jet stream, so light rain will be our main form of precipitation.
We get a taste of winter as our most powerful front of the season moves through Saturday night for south-central Texas and in the early morning for south Texas. Look for temperatures to drop from the 60’s into the 30’s and 40’s as the front moves through along with winds gusting to 30mph out of the NE. By sunrise on Sunday morning most of us will be experiencing wind chills in the 30’s! Highs on Sunday, under mostly cloudy skies, will be in the 40’s and 50’s. Right now it looks like there will be a potential for freezes on Monday and Tuesday mornings, so certainly plan ahead! FYI: I don't see any chance for wintry precipitation with this front as of today.
Enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving…I’m off to our dinner with family and friends. On the menu is a chicken mole casserole with pumpkin pie and pecan pie as desert!
What’s on your Thanksgiving menu today?
