El Niño, Drought Update and more rain on the way!
Lots to talk about today! First, the graphics for the latest El Niño graphic update are in (the discussion will be out later today or tomorrow) and it is impressive…nothing but El Niño conditions from now through at least March of 2027! The latest drought update came out today and for the first time in I don’t now when, we have eliminated the red (extreme drought conditions) from our region! Rain chances for next week continue to look good, with a late season cool front sparking the potential for some heavy rain, but the latest model runs are shifting the bigger rain totals to south and southeast Texas now. While there will be chances for scattered storms through the weekend, this event doesn’t start ramping up until late on Sunday through Tuesday.
A tropical wave currently located over the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, shows no sign of becoming a tropical something in the next week, but could feed extra moisture into south Texas during our rain event.

located over the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Environmental
