It’s Complicated! The good news is that we will all see some rain this week…the tough part of the forecast is how much and for how long! A lot depends of what the disturbance in the Gulf decides to do. While it is not expected to form into a tropical depression, the remnants could end up in northern Mexico, then move into south Texas and eventually the Gulf by later next week. Here’s the latest from the NHC: ”A broad area of low pressure just offshore of eastern Mexico is producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. Significant development is not anticipated before the low moves inland over eastern Mexico by early Sunday. The system could re-emerge over the northwestern Gulf of America on Tuesday or Wednesday while interacting with a frontal boundary, but conditions there are expected to be only marginally conducive for development. Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.

It’s great to see another afternoon of tropical poppers on the radar. While these are very scattered, some locations have seen ¼ to over an inch of rain in the past 24hrs. We will see another round of scattered sea breeze showers and storms tomorrow before rain chances start ramping up Sunday afternoon through Tuesday as a rare mid-June cool front slowly moves through Texas. Here’s the latest update from the NWS: “Pockets of heavy rain and isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding possible Sunday into Tuesday morning with medium to high rain and storm chances. Monitoring any lingering spin associated with the Mexico tropical disturbance through mid to late week and a disturbance over Texas panhandle from Friday into Saturday that could continue the rain chances. Warm and humid conditions persist with elevated heat indices this weekend and during the second half of next week.”
