A mostly cloudy and cool day today after front #1 moved through last night. Get ready for a weekend visit from an arctic front that is currently in far NE Texas and moving SW. This is a classic, “Backdoor Front” scenario as only the western edge of the arctic high pressure will give us a glancing blow tomorrow through Sunday, then quickly moves eastward by Monday. By Tuesday we will be back into the 70’s for highs. Meanwhile, prepare for a potential freeze tonight and a “for sure” freeze on Sunday morning with many locations dropping into the low to mid 20’s!

A seasonal front moves through on Wednesday, only giving us a tiny chance for some light rain…as usual, the better rain totals will stay in east Texas. The CPC outlook continues to favor better odds for rain around the middle of February, but that’s too far down the road to get excited.

Below is the latest drought update and rainfall info for January…pretty depressing for most of our area.
