Our next chances for rain all revolve around our next cold front, due to blow through during the day on Saturday. Besides being strong front for mid April, the front will produce some storms and showers as it moves through our area during the day, then set up several days of overriding moisture from the SW. As a coastal trough develops in south Texas, the setup for more rain for Monday-Tuesday looks decent as a disturbance moves in from Mexico. As I have mentioned, while this does not look like a drought busting system (only a hurricane could do that at this point), rainfall totals for south-central and south Texas are forecast by the models to range from a half an inch to 2 inches from Saturday-Wednesday. As an overriding system versus a convective system, I feel more confident than usual that this will pan out. With weather though…you never know! The good news is we will see more rain events before the end of the month.
