As forecast, we had freezes as far south as Corpus Christi overnight, with quite a few locations dipping into the teens! The coldest temperature in south-central Texas 13 degrees near Fredericksburg and 22 degrees in Goliad for south Texas. Here is a link to our lows for south-central Texas: IEM :: PNS from NWS EWX and for south Texas: IEM :: PNS from NWS CRP
Now we keep our fingers crossed for at least a little rain Tuesday night through Wednesday as a cold front moves through on Monday, then moisture from the southwest overriding the cooler air on the surface. A disturbance moves in from the southwest late on Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing our rain chances. Unfortunately, south-central Texas will miss out on most of the rain, with the better totals staying along the coastal plains and the coast.
After the disturbance moves through on Wednesday, the sun and warmer temperatures (60’s and 70’s) return for Thursday and Friday before our next front arrives early on Saturday. That front looks interesting, with three of the major models, (EURO, GFS and Canadian) as of today (yes, they could change their minds this week) forecasting an arctic front. Even more interesting is that all of the three models are also predicted a combo of sleet and ice as well. Certainly something to keep our eyes on!
