My travel plans did not pan out today, so let’s talk about the drought and chances for rain over the next week. The remnants of Edouard coupled with a TUTT low and Hell High located to our NE, will give us a chance for some scattered storms over the next week, with the best odds coming tomorrow. There is a good chance for more flooding over east Texas today, but things should settle down a bit by tomorrow. While there will be chances for rain over the weekend, odds for rain on Labor Day look very low.

As far as the drought goes, we are once again seeing an expansion of moderate and severe conditions as rainfall totals for August were much below normal for most of us. I’m including the national drought map to illustrate that a good part of the country is now in some kind of drought. Hopefully, we will see dramatic changes over the next few months as we move into fall and winter.
