Nice to see some more PM poppers on the radar this afternoon. While most of these have only dropped a half an inch or less, as we saw yesterday, the one that sat over Victoria dropped 5 inches! We will continue to see a chance for scattered storms through the weekend, but mainly confined to the coastal plains and along the coast. A few of you along and east of I-35 may also see some storms before they go poof in the afternoon.

Looking over the latest drought update, we continue to see exceptional and extreme conditions over a large part of south-central Texas, but there has been some improvement when you compare conditions three months ago. As I have mentioned this week, I don’t expect to see much improvement until we get a tropical something to park itself over us for several days…and the latest NHC shows nothing forming in the next week.

We are still looking at an attack from the Saharan desert, starting this weekend and lasting for much of next week. During the worst of the dust, rain odds will drop to near zero for everyone.
