As if the flooding wasn’t enough of an issue, the weather gods threw a small tornado into the mix this morning in and around Fiesta Texas and the Rim. I’m sure most of you have seen some of videos that have been posted on social media…it did quite a lot of damage and as of post time, it’s great to hear there were no reports of injuries.
From the NWS: “The forecast remains relatively unchanged with intense rain rates and compounding effects from multiple rounds of storms resulting in a dangerous flash flooding threat through Thursday. Considerable to locally catastrophic impacts from flash flooding are likely for the southern Edwards Plateau, Rio Grande, western Hill Country, and U.S. 90 corridor west of San Antonio. Pockets of an additional 10 to 15 inches of rain are possible within the highest risk areas, with broader totals of 2 to 6 inches. Potential for significant to catastrophic river flooding in the Nueces, Frio, and Medina river basins and significant flooding in the Pecos, Rio Grande, and San Antonio river basins. Heed instructions from local officials and be prepared to seek higher ground if necessary.”
All of the latest model runs and the NWS updates are below. Please make sure you keep your emergency apps and NOAA weather radios on because you never know when a cell will park itself over your location and dump several inches of rain over a short period of time.
As always, please feel free to post your rain totals and any storm videos!
