As expected, most of the energy from our first disturbance stayed in the northern and western counties of the Hill Country, where western Kerr county recorded over 5 inches of rain. As of post time, the radar is lighting up again from Eagle Pass and northward from a second disturbance. This disturbance will move to the east this afternoon and hopefully, will continue to produce storms south of HWY 90 as it does. The models and official forecast think the rain to the south will fall apart as the system moves east. In the early hours on Friday, another line of storms will develop along the cool front and those could impact counties that have so far not seen much, if any rain yet. For those of you in south Texas, your best odds for rain will come over the weekend as the front goes stationary on Saturday, then moves north as a warm front on Sunday. This will increase moisture ahead of our next front that will move through on Monday, giving you the best chance for rain during the day.
Storms could reach severe levels today and tonight (main threat is hail and high winds), so as always, please make sure your NOAA weather radio or emergency apps are on!
If you recorded some rain overnight or get lucky this afternoon, let us know how much rain fell at your place and where!
