From the NWS: “Confidence continues to increase that our area will see heavy rainfall tonight into early Friday morning. A storm system is expected to move from the four corners region into the Southern Plains tonight into Thursday night, bringing with it the potential for pockets of heavy rainfall across South Central Texas through this period. Rainfall Totals have trended higher and A Flood Watch goes into effect 12 AM Thursday through 6am Friday. Expect rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches for most locations across the watch area with isolated totals of up to 6 to 8 inches over the Southern Edwards Plateau and western Hill Country. Another round of heavy rain is possible Sunday night into Monday. There is higher uncertainty for this round. However, models suggest the Southern Edwards Plateau, Hill Country, and I-35 Corridor to be impacted the most.”
I’ve included a lot of info on this system, including the latest radar forecast from the NBM model to give you an idea of how this all will set up. The good news is that there will be a second cool front and disturbance moving through on Sunday-Monday. While south Texas won’t see the rain that south-central Texas will, the latest models suggest many of you could see 1/2-1 inch of rain before Monday. Since there could be severe storms over the next 24hrs, make sure your NOAA weather radio and emergency apps are turned on for local warnings!
Models continue to look chilly, starting around Thanksgiving and going into early December…more on that this weekend.
