While there was a lot of ice with last night’s storm, most of the reports I have seen show sleet was the most common precipitation for most of south-central Texas. As we all know, sleet is a lot easier to deal with than ice! Now the biggest issue we all have to deal with is the extreme cold. Lows tomorrow morning will fall into the single digits and teens for most of south-central Texas and teens and twenties for south Texas. Quite a few of you in the Hill Country may not get above freezing until Tuesday afternoon!

Looking further down the weather road, we have a dry front moving in on Wednesday, then another potentially wet front on Friday. Models are all over the place for the second front, with some forecasting a wintry mix again. Here’s what the latest forecast discussion from the NWS is saying: “A cold airmass in the wake on the boundary pushes down and spreads across the local area. At this time, cold rain is expected Friday night into Saturday as moisture pushes away the local area. However, if moisture remains in place for a longer time on Friday night into Saturday morning, we could end up with a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet.”

Below is the latest update from the NWS and forecast lows through Thursday.

Please let us know how much ice, sleet or snow fell at your place and where.
