As expected, a cold start to the day, with most locations reporting lows in the teens this morning. We had freezes in south Texas all the way down to Brownsville! Despite sunshine, most locations will stay in the 30’s for highs except for south Texas. Another very cold night with teens expected again for south-central Texas and 20’s in south Texas. Most of you will warm into the 40’s and low 50’s on Tuesday, and for parts of the Hill Country, that will be the first time since Saturday that they will have gotten above freezing!

A warming trend through Thursday with highs reaching the 60’s, before our next shot of arctic air moves in on Friday. This cold outbreak will not be as strong as this one, but we will still see lows dropping into the 20’s on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately, (or unfortunately for those wanting rain) we will not see any moisture with the Friday front, so no worries about ice this time around.

The long-range models are looking bullish for increased rain chances after Feb.5th, but that’s still too many days out to get excited. The latest CPC outlooks keep us in the better than 50-50 odds for above normal precipitation for the next 6-14 days.
