These bullet points from the NWS sum up tonight’s weather!

  • Freezing rain developing west to east this evening and overnight and increasing in coverage and accumulation rates

  • Significant/major ice impacts across the Hill Country into portions of I-35 corridor

  • Travel will be near-impossible

  • Stay off roads tonight and Sunday morning

  • Ice weighing down tree limbs could be an issue

  • Hard Freezes tonight, Sunday Night, and Monday Night

  • Hill Country and some portions of Austin metro forecast to remain freezing through midday Tuesday

  • Wind chill values single digits to lower teens tonight and Sunday night

Our Baja low is heading our way and will give us enough lift in the atmosphere to increase our precipitation odds again tonight. Look for mainly freezing rain, but there could be some sleet and even a few snow showers later in the evening. Please tune to your local NOAA radio for updates and additional warnings or your preferred weather apps. As you can see from the graphics, even much of south Texas will be impacted by this storm as well. Fingers crossed that we don’t see too many power outages from the ice, but if the forecast rain totals verify, we likely will.

    Stay safe everyone!
