Last night’s storms got pretty rough around Sabinal, with quite a lot of wind damage. Here is the latest update on that storm from the NWS: “Public Information Statement National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 243 PM CDT Wed Jun 11 2025 ...Straight-Line Wind Damage in Sabinal... Based on photos, ground reports from emergency management officials, and radar data, the damage that occurred in the Sabinal area Tuesday night is most likely associated with straight-line winds. The degree of damage that occurred to trees, power and telephone poles, and roofs is consistent with 60-80 mph winds. The most concentrated area of damage occurred on the south side of Sabinal, south of U.S. 90., with sporadic wind damage elsewhere.”

An interesting forecast tonight, with storms forecast to form over central and eastern counties of south-central Texas, then moving SE. A Flood watch has been issued for Bastrop, Burnet, Fayette, Lee, Travis, and Williamson counties through tomorrow night. While the latest NWS forecast thinks that most of the heavier rain will stay in the newly issued Flood Watch zone, the latest short-range models are forecasting rain totals of up to 7 inches for counties just to the SE of San Antonio overnight. Because this is yet another convective system, there are a lot of possible outcomes of how much rain will fall, so stay tuned to your local NOAA radio or emergency apps!
