Heading in a better direction…

Our dry front arrived this morning as forecast and as our humidity lowers our winds have increased to nearly 30mph…no surprise that a Red Flag Warning is in effect until 9pm tonight. Cooler temperatures with lows in the upper 30’s and 40’s for the next couple of days and highs in the 60’s. We start warming up on Tuesday and by Wednesday and Thursday, we could see quite a few locations in south Texas going hitting 90 degrees or higher!

The latest CPC monthly and seasonal outlooks arrived this week and for the first time in quite a while, I’m seeing some positive signs for precipitation this spring. Instead of the rubber stamped “Better than 50/50 odds for drier than normal conditions”, I’m seeing equal chances for below or above normal rain. I know it doesn’t sound dramatically better, but given our long term drought, this is a sign that we may finally be moving towards at least average rainfall this year. On top of that good news is the latest forecast for us to move into an El Niño pattern by this fall. El Niño gives us a better chance for a wet and mild winter…something we desperately need.
