Another murky, humid and cloudy day for many of you. It’s easy to see where the clouds have parted when you take a look at current temperatures, with temperatures under the cloud cover holding in the 80’s and upper 90’s to low 100’s where it has cleared. Smoke from Mexico and Central America continues to impact our air quality, with most monitors recording PM2 (smoke or dust) in the “moderate levels.
Believe it or not, a few small cells moved through the western counties this morning, but most totals were less than a tenth of an inch. We will see a tiny chance for some storms forming along our wimpy front during the night…the HRRR model is forecasting a line developing around 3am in the Hill Country. On Wednesday a short wave moves through south Texas with the potential for storms, mainly along the border and far south Texas. Starting around Memorial Day, troughing will increase our SW flow, leading to the potential for a stormy and wet end to the month!
Now that we are moving towards the end of May, I’ll be checking the latest on the tropics…as of today, nothing is forecast to develop over the next week, but sea surface temperatures for the Gulf and Caribbean are running above normal…graphics below.
Here is an interesting study from Save Medina Lake...it makes sense to me. https://savemedinalake.com/
