A few of you will get lucky this afternoon as some pm poppers have developed in the coastal plains and even as far north as San Antonio…they obviously did not get the memo that there was almost a zero chance for rain today!
The Saharan dust is moving out of the state and a mid-level disturbance will keep scattered storms in the forecast through this weekend, but the main rain threat will stay in north Texas as a rare July front moves into that area before going poof on Sunday. By next week, typical July weather comes back, with rain odds taking a vacation for at least 7-10 days.
Nothing is brewing in the tropics as of post time…even the hurricane friendly GFS model isn’t forecasting a storm!
The latest ENSO update is out and here’s what the CPC is saying: “Synopsis: ENSO-neutral is most likely through the late Northern Hemisphere summer 2025 (56% chance in August-October). Thereafter, chances of La Niña conditions increase into the fall and winter 2025-26, but remain comparable to ENSO-neutral.” A very uncommon event of La Nada continuing into next year!
