Drought update and something interesting to talk about…

As forecast, it’s been a windy one out there today with most of you seeing over 30mph gusts and a few locations topping out over 50mph (Corpus Christi Airport). The winds should start winding down in a few hours and temps will start quickly dropping after sunset. Depending on how many clouds hang around, there could be quite of few of you experiencing a freeze overnight, so I’d certainly recommend covering or bringing in any plants that don’t like freezes!

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and cool for most areas with highs mainly in the 50’s and low 60’s. While we will cool down into the 30’s and 40’s again on Monday morning, clouds should keep most locations above freezing. A disturbance from Mexico moves through on Monday night, giving us a chance for some light rain. We clear out on Tuesday and warm back up into the 70’s by Wednesday ahead of a seasonal, dry front.

There’s been an interesting change in the models over the past 24hrs. All four longer range models are now forecasting a strong front to move through around next Saturday, dropping temperatures into the 30’s and potentially giving us a chance in south-central Texas for some wintry precipitation as a disturbance moves in from Mexico! I’d normally not get too excited, but this is only a week away, so it certainly is worth watching as we get closer to next weekend.
