A chilly start to the day with many of you seeing a freeze overnight, especially in the Hill Country and rural areas to the west of San Antonio. San Antonio and Austin did not record a freeze…likely the urban heat island effect. Pretty crazy that San Antonio has still not had an official freeze this late in the season.

I should know better than to get excited when the models are predicting snow for Texas, even when three of the models were in agreement. As of today’s runs, we’re back to our usual dry scenario, with just cooler weather for the weekend.

In the short term, continued cool temperatures, but with the clouds, freezes will be unlikely tonight. Clouds thicken up tomorrow afternoon ahead of a weak disturbance moving in from Mexico, that will move through Monday night and early Tuesday. While our western counties could see a tenth or two of rain (any would be welcome), most of us will be lucky to record a few hundredths of an inch from this system.

A seasonal dry front moves down on Wednesday, followed by a stronger front on Friday. As of today, Friday’s front looks dry and temperatures look similar to the front that we saw today, with lows in the 30’s and 40’s and highs in the 50’s.
