With a cool front making its way into central Texas tonight, another MCS (mesoscale convective system) may move into the Hill Country and Austin, then possibly into San Antonio before going poof around sunrise. There will be a threat of hail and high winds, especially further north, before the storms weaken. This morning an MCS moved across the border from Mexico into the Hill Country, dropping close to an inch in places!

Once tomorrow’s system moves through, look for almost zero chances for rain and very warm temperatures for at least 7-10 days. Our NWS sums it up well: “Thursday an upper level ridge will build over Texas from northern Mexico leading to a period of dry weather. This ridge will strengthen over the end of the week. Subsident flow will produce lots of sunshine and temperatures will climb as a result. Highs will rise to well above normal by Friday and may reach records over the weekend. Heat advisories may be needed south of the Hill Country Sunday and Monday.”

Models continue to look more bullish for rain in about 10 days and the wild and crazy GFS model now thinks there could be a hurricane in the Gulf around the 18th, instead of the 12th…I would not go to Vegas on those odds!
