Another day, another MCV (mesoscale convective vortex). This one formed overnight along the border, and has been slowly moving NNE, dropping some hefty rainfall totals over our western counties. As of post time, there are flash flood warning out for Bandera, Kerr, Real, Uvalde and Kinney counties. Almost 6.5 inches of rain has fallen at Garner State Park and 5.5 inches at Lost Maples State Park. The only good news is that the heaviest rain has fallen over regions that have not see the very big rainfall totals and flooding over the past week, but if the the storms continue to shift NNE, that could change.
From the NWS: “ Have updated the Flood Watch to include totals of 2 to 5 inches with isolated totals of 7 to 9 inches given the trends and also the latest short term models becoming more aggressive with totals even through tonight with possible additional rejuvenated rounds of activity with the pesky MCV slowly moving northward.”
Details below…stay safe and please turn on your NOAA weather radio or emergency apps if you live in a low lying area.
