Record heat this afternoon…

No surprise…the models and forecasts were spot on with predicting record high temperatures this afternoon with most locations in the upper 80’s and 90’s. As the records are published by the NWS later this afternoon, I’ll post them in the comments below. I see that San Marcos hit 90 degrees as the furthest north location in our area to do so. Almost every location along the Rio Grande and SW Texas has highs in the 90’s as of post time. A wimpy front will move through later this afternoon and we will see mainly 50’s for lows and upper 70’s and low 80’s for highs for this weekend and most of next week. Normal highs should be in the low 60’s and lows in the low 40’s for this time of the year.

While the models are certainly not in agreement, we could see a pattern change around the 8th, as the evil high pressure that has been parked over us for the past month shows signs of moving east late next week as a trough develops to our west. This would at least give us a chance for some disturbances to move through from Mexico.
