As has been the case for the past few days, we continue to see some very wildly scattered pm poppers in south Texas, where high pressure is slightly reduced. These will continue to form through the weekend, but for the most part, not drop much rain. By early next week, it’s looking more likely that a wimpy front will attempt to dive into Texas, along with a disturbance from the north. Depending on how far south the front goes and how powerful the disturbance is, will impact our rain chances from late Monday through Thursday. While there could be some pockets of decent rainfall totals, the latest models don’t give me a lot of confidence for widespread rain from this system.

The tropics are heating up, with newly formed Tropical Storm Gabrielle out in the Atlantic and two tropical waves off the African coast that have a chance of also becoming storms over the next week. As of today, none of these storms or potential storms are forecast to impact Texas.
