A chance for some severe storms tonight…

Our very far northern counties saw some severe storms last night, with Leander reporting 2.75 inch (tennis ball) hail stones! Another storm pushed across the border and dropped almost a half inch of rain on Eagle Pass.

We should see more border activity this afternoon and evening as storms are forecast to ignite east of a dry-line that stretches across West Texas into the mountains of Mexico. As I type this post, storms are forming near Mason, Junction and to the NW of Del Rio, in Mexico, and just a few seconds ago, the NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm for most of the Hill Country and our western counties. Eagle Pass, Del Rio, Uvalde and Kerrville are all included. Hail and high winds will be the biggest threat…as always, please tune to your local NOAA Weather Radio or emergency apps for warnings in your particular location.

We will see another chance for western storms on Monday, then back to almost zero odds for rain through at least the 23rd. Models continue to look bullish for a rain event the last week of the month…we shall see!
