A breezy day as our cool front zoomed through, kicking up wind gusts to over 30mph in some places!

While it’s still too early to get excited, the longer range models (EURO and GFS) have both been bullish the past couple of days on us seeing improved rain chances starting in about a week. The latest CPC outlook also is looking promising with better than 50/50 odds for above normal rainfall in their 6-10 day forecast.

I have seen quite a lot of hype from various weather people about a potential arctic front arriving on the last few days of January. While that is possible, I never ever take models very seriously two weeks out! I will say that eventually, a piece of arctic air will likely move into Texas before the end of winter, as is usually the case.

A cool weekend ahead as a strong, dry front moves through on Friday afternoon. While we will see 30’s and 40’s for lows on Saturday, the coldest day will be Sunday morning when locations like San Antonio may see their first freeze of the season!
