In the short term, thanks to a return of SW winds on Saturday, look for the potential for more record highs (upper 80’s) to be broken Sunday-Tuesday, as warm dry air from Mexico moves into our area.
Later next week, its looking more promising that a Pacific cool front and disturbance may give us our first decent chance for rain this month. All of the models have come on board, forecasting 1/2-2 inches of rain for most of south-central Texas. Unfortunately, for those of you living south of HWY 90 and west of I-37, it’s still looking more iffy. The good news is that as I have been mentioning this week, it finally looks like we are working into a more active weather pattern for the remaining days of November.
The latest ENSO update came out today and here is what the CPC is saying about our current weak La Niña. ”A weak La Niña would be less likely to result in conventional winter impacts, though predictable signals could still influence the forecast guidance (e.g., CPC's seasonal outlooks). In summary, La Niña is favored to continue into the Northern Hemisphere winter, with a transition to ENSO-neutral most likely in January-March 2026 (61% chance; Fig. 7).
Have a great weekend!
