Despite no help from the tropics, rain odds look good this week!

8-18-25. 3:45pm. Perfect weather for a BBQ! This Update is brought to you by Sedley's Grass Fed Beef. Despite a quiet weather week in the Gulf, rain odds will be on the increase as our high pressure moves over the four corners, allowing for a NE flow aloft and very humid air from the SE to ramp up our rain chances. With the high out of the way, we will see a slow moving front move into our area on Thursday, go stationary, then give us decent rain chances through the weekend. As I mentioned yesterday, these will not be drought busting storms, but by Sunday, many of you will have hopefully recorded 1/2 to an inch or rain. Of course, with this being a convective system, there will be rain lottery winners and losers.

Hurricane Erin has ramped back up to a CAT 4 again as it continues its NW movement in the Atlantic. Further away is a tropical wave that now has a 60% chance of becoming a depression or tropical storm in the next 7 days. This one needs to be watched, since it has a chance to impact the USA in the next 7-10 days. As of today, none of the models are steering it into Texas.

I’m hoping the CPC releases their latest seasonal forecast tomorrow or Wednesday…we’ll look at the ENSO report that was released last week and dive a little into fall and winter!
