Again, a very detailed report from the NWS has just been released and I have posted it below. The big change in the past 48hrs has been the forecast to delay the cold air as the front goes stationary for about 12 hours over the northern Hill Country on Friday night, then finally pushes to the south on Saturday morning. If that does occur, then we will thankfully see less ice from this storm as most of the rain is forecast to fall from Friday night through Saturday morning. However, I would certainly keep your guard up for an arctic surprise on Friday night and early Saturday, as I warned yesterday. Models have a hard time with arctic fronts. Even if the models are correct about the delay of the cold air, temperatures will drop rapidly on Saturday and we should see freezing temps and ice from San Antonio northward by the afternoon. I was surprised to see that there is now a chance for some snow (likely just a dusting) on Saturday for the Hill Country and along I-35 as far south as San Marcos. Also, let’s not forget that this front will a wet one, dropping 1/4 to over an inch of rain for many locations.

Enjoy the NWS update and don’t forget to consider purchasing some Freeze Misers, since temperatures could drop into the single digits and teens this weekend!
