Yesterday we looked at the long-range CFS model for some signs of a possible pattern change. Today, both the Euro and GFS models are hinting at the first potential change for our weather around the 23rd as our stubborn jet stream shows signs of movement from west to east. The current jet stream pattern has been a godsend for us in the west, with my location in Pagosa Springs picking up over 3 inches of rain in the past couple of days and more on the way for next week as we tap into the moisture from two tropical systems off of Mexico. In a normal year, this moisture would have been sent to Texas instead. As you will see below, there is something wrong with this universe when Las Vegas is getting more rain than our area!

Our current jet stream pattern is blocking all moisture from the Gulf and Pacific.

3day rainfall totals for the SW, thanks to the jet stream transporting moisture from tropical systems off the coast of Mexico. Circled areas are Las Vegas and Pagosa Springs, CO.

The 7day rainfall forecast shows more of the same for this week.

Finally the jet stream may set up in our area around the 24th, ushering in some moisture from the Pacific.
