The NWS sums it up well! “Locally heavy rainfall possible this afternoon across the Rio Grande Plains, Hill Country, and Southern Edwards Plateau. Rain chances continue Thursday and will be on the increase across the Interstate 35 corridor. Pattern change will bring decreasing rain chances and increasing temperatures through the upcoming weekend.”

Deep tropical moisture continues to flow into our area from the SE, igniting quite a few tropical showers and thunderstorms today! The water-heavy atmosphere will continue to spawn storms through tomorrow, before high pressure dries us out for starting on Friday for at least a week.

2:30pm radar shows storms moving NW from the coastal plains to the border and northward into the Hill Country. The heavier rain totals this afternoon will fall north and along a HWY 90 line, with some locations possibly seeing 2-3 inches of rain! Since this is convective in nature, there will be a lot of haves and have nots…with some of you seeing very little rain and nearby areas seeing a lot.
